A Before & After Bathroom Story

I am happy to share this before and after bathroom remodel with you! Kitchen & Bath designer Nathan was excited when homeowners, Martin and Lynne, reached out to him.  They were ready to remodel their very tired and very pink master bathroom, which needed to be refreshed.  Nathan and the couple decided on a contemporary, yet warm themed bathroom that was also luxurious. The main goal in designing this space was to make it functional for the two homeowners.  This meant transforming the clients existing bathroom from a single sink vanity, toilet and tub combination to a true 5 piece Master Ensuite.

 The Before:

Using the height of the bathroom for the vanity wall, the designer chose to maximize storage with his and her vanities and two uplift medicine cabinets; giving the bathroom a true master ensuite feel. The custom hand blown glass pendants not only add a warmth factor to the lighting within the space, but also act as task lighting in the evening.

As for the fixtures, well, that is where the one and only comes in to play: Astro Design Centre.  By using a matt black glazed steel sink with a matt black faucet against a backdrop of textured black slate counter and backsplash, the designer was able to focus attention to the detailing of fixtures and the textures of the custom vanity. The pop of black contrasted beautifully with the earth-toned tiles on the floors and wall.  Choosing a larger format of tile for the walls and floors helped make the space look larger. A wall mounted toilet and heated towel bar provide an aesthetic and functional element to the bathroom.

To maximize the feel of the space, the designer chose to go curbless between the dry area of the bathroom and the wet room. The water is contained by a small glass return and a linear drain system. In creating the wet room, the designer was able to give the client a two person bathtub, as well as a large walk-in shower with floor to ceiling glass. The sloped ceiling helped create an interesting visual for the wet space and also houses a sky light that lights up the bathroom during the day.

The redesign of the bathroom not only made the space more functional but also more in keeping with the unique architecture of the home. Martin and Lynne are now able to relax in their much improved contemporary style master ensuite!

This 3-time award winning bathroom design is truly unique and the couple can now appreciate a more luxurious new space. Hear from our clients themselves on what they had to say about their bathroom remodel with Astro!
